President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov took part in the work of the second summit of the Islamic Cooperation Organization (ICO) on science and technologies, which was held in video conference format.

First of all, I would like to thank His Excellency the Secretary General for organizing today’s Summit! The issue brought up for discussion is particularly relevant and important in the modern period of an unprecedented breakthrough in the field of information technology and of greater demand for joint scientific research in the areas that are of considerable interest to humanity.

Today, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has made a working trip of the capital at the request of Cabinet Deputy Chairman Sh. Durdylyev to become acquainted with the massive urban redevelopment efforts ongoing in the context of preparations for the 30th anniversary of the home country’s sacred independence.  

Supporting women's entrepreneurship, ensuring gender balance and creating equal working conditions became the main topic of discussion at the International Online Forum «Empowering Women for Sustainable Development in Central Asia and Afghanistan», organized today by the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the United Nations Development Program.

The solemn ceremony of awarding the winners of the scientific works competition among the youth of Turkmenistan, traditionally held to commemorate the Day of Science by the Academy of Sciences and the Central Council of the Makhtumkuli Youth Organization, was held today in the conference hall of the Oguz Khan Engineering and Technological University.

As is noted in the congratulatory message by the Head of State, the participation of scientists, professors, engineers and technologists from prestigious scientific and educational centers of the world in the international scientific conference shows the growing international interest in our scientific and technological policy, the deepening of the international community’s desire to establish new international cooperation. The Esteemed President emphasized that the focus of modern knowledge and science on the global economic and cultural innovative development is a very important condition for establishing peaceful, friendly and good relations.

The Day of Science, professional holiday of scientists, researchers and personnel of scientific organizations, has been celebrated in Turkmenistan on June 12.
