President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov held a telephone conversation with President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi.
Congratulating President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on the International Day of Neutrality and the 26th anniversary of Turkmenistan's acquisition of the legal status of neutrality, the President of the friendly country addressed the best wishes to the President of Turkmenistan and the Turkmen people. President Seyyed Ebrahim Raisi reaffirmed the commitment of Iran to strengthening and expanding relations with Turkmenistan, pursuing a peaceful and constructive policy.
Thanking for the congratulations and good wishes, the President of Turkmenistan focused on a solid potential for expanding effective bilateral partnership, underlining that at present constructive relations become more dynamic and progressive. In this context, it was underlined the importance of enhancing interstate political, diplomatic, economic and cultural ties based on the principles of equality, mutual respect and good neighborliness.
Continuing the conversation, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President Seyed Ebrahim Raisi discussed the areas of bilateral cooperation, taking into account the existing prospects and modern realities. In this regard, it was noted that there are great opportunities for expanding cooperation in the fuel and energy, transport and communication complexes, light industry, agriculture and processing industries.
During the conversation, the heads of the two friendly states also touched upon a number of important issues of international politics of mutual interest. Speaking about the common positions on topical issues of our time, especially the consolidation of efforts to ensure peace and sustainable development, the interlocutors stressed that cooperation in this direction met universal goals and national interests. The leaders of the two states reaffirmed he commitment of the both countries to constructive interaction with authoritative international organizations, primarily the UN and others.
Speaking about the significant role of cooperation in the humanitarian sphere as an integral part of bilateral relations, the leaders of Turkmenistan and Iran emphasized that the peoples of the two countries have common history, culture, spiritual values, centuries-old good traditions, which acquire new content in the modern epoch. Meeting participants also focused on the great potential in the field of science and education, culture and art, in the sphere of sports.
Reaffirming the commitment of the both states to inviolable fraternal ties, the leaders of Turkmenistan and the Islamic Republic of Iran noted that the countries would take every effort to intensify productive interaction in priority areas.
At the end of the telephone conversation, the leaders of the two states expressed confidence in the further successful development of the Turkmen-Iranian cooperation.
