Today President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Baghdad Amreev.

Welcoming the leader of the nation, the guest expressed sincere gratitude for the time allotted for the meeting and the opportunity to take part in the International Conference dedicated to such important issues of our time as strengthening peace and confidence in order to ensure global security, stability and development. At the same time, the urgency and relevance of the ideas voiced in the speech of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in this direction, which were unanimously supported by the forum participants, was emphasized.

Expressing gratitude for the congratulations and kind words, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov stressed that, pursuing foreign policy based on the status of Permanent Neutrality, recognized and confirmed by special resolutions of the UN General Assembly, our country is aimed at expanding friendly relations and fruitful cooperation with all interested foreign partners. Turkmenistan is successfully developing constructive interaction, both in bilateral and multilateral format, through international and regional organizations. Among them is the Organization of Turkic States, which our country joined in November of this year as an observer.

The presence of a diverse potential for building up mutually beneficial trade and economic ties, stimulating business and investment activity, and implementing joint projects were emphasized during the exchange of views on the prospects for further partnership. The priority areas of interaction include transport and logistics, energy, ecology, the introduction of innovative technologies, etc.

Today the Secretariat of the Organization is working on a corresponding Program, which includes many events, in particular, international conferences, publications of various materials and scientific research. It is also planned to erect monuments to Magtymguly in the capitals of the countries of the Turkic world, and to name streets in cities after him. Together with the Government of Turkmenistan, the Secretariat of the Organization will work in this direction in a broader format.

At the end of the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and his guest expressed confidence that constructive cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Organization of Turkic States will continue to develop successfully, filling with new concrete content.
