Nowadays, Ashgabat hosts the workshop with participation of representatives of the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan and International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies.
On the sidelines of the seminar, a number of sessions are planned, first of which is devoted to the general introduction of the program of the monetary and voucher assistance (DVP) with a view of readiness for effective reaction to crisis situations, acquaintance with examples of the plans of action of societies of Red Cross and Red Crescent of other countries.
The National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan, created in 1926, represents our country in the international movement of the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies. Being one of the oldest humanitarian public organisations, NRCST takes an active part in social and economic transformations carried out in our state, in particular, in such areas as maintenance of social protection of citizens, public health care, consolidation of status of institute of family, education of younger generation in the spirit of the best traditions of Turkmen people - compassion, sympathy and empathy for others.
Joint activity allows the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan to realise available potential and to raise the level of knowledge of employees and volunteers of the Society.
In this connection, it is worth noting organization of an awareness-raising event «Principles of Patriotism and Humanism» held in a hybrid format in the conference hall of the Central office of the National Red Crescent Society of Turkmenistan in January of the current year with participation of representatives of the NRCS, the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Central Asia (UNHCR).
At the meeting, they discussed a wide spectrum of issues of cooperation of NRCST with the largest international organisations and structures, first of all, with the United Nations.
The information on plans for further interaction with corresponding ministries and departments, conduction of business meetings and training actions, practical realisation of the «Plan of action for 2024-2026 on introduction of international humanitarian law (IHL) in Turkmenistan» was heard.
It is necessary to note that, having proclaimed protection of interests and human rights and recognising a priority of the standard norms of international law a key aspect of the state policy, our independent neutral country steadily follows the its obligations on fulfilment of corresponding documents.
