Today, as part of preparations for the upcoming March 12 important socio-political campaign - the upcoming presidential elections in Turkmenistan - meetings of initiative groups of citizens were held in the Balkan and Lebap velayats, during which the most worthy contenders for the highest state post were nominated.

As the leader of the nation Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized at the meeting of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan on February 11, special hope is placed on the youth, because the younger generation is the embodiment of all our hopes for the future. After all, it is the young people who will have to take an active part in the implementation of the high goals and tasks outlined and determine the future path of the country's development.

In accordance with Article 46 of the Electoral Code of Turkmenistan, which determines the procedure for nominating candidates for the President of Turkmenistan by groups of citizens, a candidate must be supported by at least ten thousand signatures of voters.

During the meeting, which was held in the Balkan velayat as part of the election campaign launched on February 14, its participants considered a proposal to nominate the chief doctor of the Avaza sanatorium of the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of Turkmenistan, deputy of the Mejlis Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Berdymammet Gurbanov as a candidate for the post of President of Turkmenistan.

As noted, after graduating from the Turkmen State Medical Institute (now the State Medical University of Turkmenistan named after Myrat Garryev) in 2004, B. Gurbanov underwent an internship at a multidisciplinary hospital in the Balkan velayat, in 2005-2008 he worked first as a family doctor, then as a chief doctor in the Health House village Bugdayly, and in subsequent years - the head physician in other health care institutions of the Balkan velayat, in particular, the hospital of the city of Garabogaz and the hospital of the Esenguly etrap. From 2012 to 2019, he held the position of First Deputy Head of the Health Department of the Balkan Velayat.

Following the motto of this year “Epoch of the People with Arkadag”, which has a special meaning, the participants of the meeting once again emphasized the importance of the proposal made by the leader of the nation to nominate young, energetic and purposeful leaders who are able to take responsibility for the future fate of the sovereign Fatherland.

Noting the organizational skills of B. Gurbanov, high professional and personal qualities, as well as his experience in a leadership position, the participants decided to nominate him as a candidate for the post of head of state.

Thanking for the high trust, Berdymammet Gurbanov assured that he would put all his efforts, knowledge and experience for the further prosperity of the country, happiness and well-being of the Turkmen people.

In the Lebap velayat, during the meeting held on the same day, the director of the financial and economic secondary vocational school of the Lebap velayat, Perkhat Begenjov, was nominated as a candidate for the post of President of the country.

As emphasized in the speeches, thanks to the progressive policy of the leader of the nation Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, a talented generation of young people has been formed, which inspires firm confidence in the successful advancement of sovereign Turkmenistan along the chosen path of progressive transformations.

Members of the initiative group and residents of the velayat carefully read the biography of P.Begendzhov, who, after graduating from the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management in 2000, worked as an economist as a teacher at this university. From March 2014 to the present, he has been the director of the financial and economic secondary vocational school in the Lebap velayat. Member of the Democratic Party of Turkmenistan.

After listening to speeches characterizing P. Begenjov as an energetic, enterprising and broad-minded young leader, it was decided to run him as a candidate for the country's highest state post.

The nomination campaign continues. The names of other contenders for the post of head of state will soon become known, which is a clear evidence of the alternativeness of the upcoming Presidential elections, which are held in conditions of transparency and openness.
