The second day program of the Asian Weightlifting Championship, held in Ashgabat in the Olympic Village, included the medal events in two weight categories among women, where the team of Turkmenistan won two bronze medals. Christina Shermetova won both awards (weight category under 53 kilograms).

Around 300 sportsmen from more than 30 countries like Japan, China, the Republic of Korea, People’s Democratic Republic of Korea, Oman, Kuwait, Jordan, Syria, Iraq and other participate in the tournament. The first day of the competitions brought two medals to the collection of Turkmenistan national team – Yulduz Jumabayeva won two bronze medals.

Today at the conference hall of the hotel ""Ashgabat"" the congress of the Asian Weightlifting Federation where issues of organisation of the championship of Asia in this sport to be held at the Olympic village of the capital from April 23 to April, 29, were discussed, took place. In competitions about 200 weight-lifters from more than 30 countries - Japan, China, the Republic of Korea, People's Democratic Republic of Korea, Oman, Kuwait, Jordan, Syria, Iraq and others will take part.

Specialized Sport Draught School of Balkan Velayat administration centre held Turkmenistan Draughts and Pool Checkers Championship between men and women. The participants, having arrived from all the velayats of the country, contested not only for the medals but also for the qualification to the national team that would take part in the World Championship in USA this June.

Famous sportsman, winner of 2000 Sydney Olympics (Australia), World and European Champion and currently Honoured Coach of Russia Alexander Lebzyak will train Turkmen boxers for XXXII World Summer Games 2020 in Tokyo.

The Asian Chess Championship in Tashkent brought together 400 athletes (U18) from 17 countries, including China, India, Vietnam, the UAE and Sri Lanka among others. Our compatriots won six medals – two silver medals and four bronze ones.

The championship of Turkmenistan in kabaddi has brought together in the capital sport centre ""Galkynysh"" teams of velayats (except Lebap) and Ashgabat city. We will especially note the semi-final duel between sportsmen of the capital and Mary region the basic time of which was completed in a draw - 76:76. During additional 5-minute time players of Ashgabat appeared stronger.

In Ashgabat the hockey championship of the country has been completed. In competitions on the ice, on the main arena of the capital winter sports sport complex, medals were played in two age groups - juniors born in 2005-2008 and under 16.
