The second day program of the Asian Weightlifting Championship, held in Ashgabat in the Olympic Village, included the medal events in two weight categories among women, where the team of Turkmenistan won two bronze medals. Christina Shermetova won both awards (weight category under 53 kilograms). On the first day of the competition, Yulduz Jumabaeva twice became bronze medalist on our sports team. Taking into account the present gains, the Turkmen national team has four bronze medals. K. Shermetova in the discipline of “clean and jerk” cope with a barbell weighing 104 kg, in the amount of double-event she has 182 kg. In addition, the pupil of the honored coach of Turkmenistan Ahmed Saryev set up her personal record in clean and jerk, improving the previous one on 4 kg. Chengji Wei from team of China became the absolute winner in the weight category under 53 kg (three gold medals). Her result in the amount of double-event is 200 kg, 88 kg – in jerk and 112 kg – in clean and jerk. Supatra Caihong (Thailand) won silver award. In the category under 58 kg, where our athletes didn’t participate, Hsing Chun Kuo of Chinese Taipei team won 3 gold medals, whose result in the amount of double-event amounted to 241 kg (104 kg – jerk, 137 kg clean and jerk). Lingli Oy from China (219 kg) became the silver medalist and Soo Kim (218 kg) – the bronze one, representing the national team of the DPRK. On the third day of competition (April 25), program will include 2 medal events – in weight category under 69 kg for males and under 63 kg for women. On April 26, on the base of the Olympic Village, two more Asian Kickboxing and Swimming Championships will start to gather masters of these sports from dozens of countries.
