Around 300 sportsmen from more than 30 countries like Japan, China, the Republic of Korea, People’s Democratic Republic of Korea, Oman, Kuwait, Jordan, Syria, Iraq and other participate in the tournament. The first day of the competitions brought two medals to the collection of Turkmenistan national team – Yulduz Jumabayeva won two bronze medals. This success was achieved by our compatriot in up to 48 kg weight category in jerk discipline (93 kg) and in total clean and jerk combination (165 kg). Y. Jumabayeva demonstrated good result in snatch where she lifted the weight of 72 kg have made her personal record, which exceeds the previous one on one kilogram. The student of National Institute of Sports and Tourism also renewed her results in in jerk and in clean and jerk combination. It is worth mentioning that Yulduz is the first Turkmen women weightlifter who managed to win the medal of the Asian tournament in total count of two disciplines. The winner of the same category in 48 kg (three gold medals) were won by Tunya Sukcharoen from Thailand whose total count made 190 kg (84 kg in snatch and 106 in jerk). The medal in two weight categories (up to 56 and 62 kg) were contested on the first day in men competitions where the participants were divided into two groups. Dcheng Long ( 273 kg) from China and Chol Bom Xin (301 kg) from the People’s Democratic Republic of Korea won the gold in clean and jerk combination accordingly in group A. Abdulla Al-Hateem from Kuwait (200 kg) and Abdullah M. Khalifa (175 kg) from the United Arab Emirates were the best in group B. The second day of the Asian Championship will be continued by women competitions only in weight categories up to 53 and 58 kg.
