Ceremony of awarding the President of Turkmenistan with the diploma conferring the honorary title ""Man of the Year"" was held during the congress ""Asian Games 2017: International Sport Cooperation for Peace and Progress"" in Avaza. The diploma was solemnly presented by the head of the Asian Chess Federation Sheikh Sultan Khalifa Sultan Shahbut Al-Nahyan.

Leyla Shohradova is a bronze winner of the Asian Chess Championship among the juniors up to 18 years old in Tashkent. Leyla was competing in rapid discipline among the children up to 10 years old.

The national volleyball team of Turkmenistan has won silver medals at the 3rd Asian Central Zone Volleyball Championship, which took place in the capital of the Republic of Maldives. In the final, our athletes lost to the team from Kyrgyzstan, which became the championship winner.

At the international fencing tournament ""Blades of Alatau"" in Almaty (Kazakhstan), our compatriot Ahmet Agayev won a bronze medal in the discipline ""sword"" in men's competitions.

Turkmen athletes successfully performed at the international tournament in traditional karate in Prague (the Czech Republic). About 500 athletes from different countries took part in the competitions of the masters of oriental martial art. Awards were competed in several disciplines, individual and team fights, kata (complex exercises) and Enbu (show fights).

The National Institute of Sports and Tourism hosted a practical conference on the 5th Indoor and Martial Arts Asian Games that related to the issues of considering the symbols of the Games, training of Turkmen athletes and volunteers, communications activity and marketing promotion of the AIMAG-2017 project among foreign media.
