Today the last sets of medal events of the “Ashgabat 2017” Games were held. In general, following the results of the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, team of Turkmenistan confidently gains the lead in the overall medal standings, leaving its rivals standing. Under our athletes’ belt for a total there are 245 medals, including 89 gold, 70 – silver, 86 – bronze. The P.R.C. team is second, in the asset of which there is 97 medals, including 42 gold, 32 silver and 23 bronze. The trio of winners includes athletes from Islamic Republic of Iran, won 118 medals: 36 gold, 23 silver, 59 bronze. In the first half of the day in the Olympic Village, there were held final competitions of the Asian Games. Joint efforts of Myahri Geldieva and Hurma Velieva brought a bronze award in the chess women’s team blitz. In tennis, it was determined the champion in the men’s singles. It is Nagal Sumit from India, who outplayed his compatriot Vijay Natarajan in the final. In the men’s bowling proficiency in the final, athletes from Chinese Taipei won, in the women’s proficiency – from the Republic of Korea. Over the whole period of the 5th Asian Games, the national team of Turkmenistan was taking first-line in the medal standings, not once giving anybody the road ahead. Each day of events, which outplayed the next awards, brought the Turkmen team new different medals. Our countrymen became prize-winners in 15 events from 21, presented in the “Ashgabat 2017” Games program. Competition with the best athletes of Asia and Oceania was decently withstood, which testifies to a high preparation level of Turkmen sportsmen for the Asian Games, and great potential of the national sport. Fortune favors our athletes in competitions on traditional types of wrestling – Goresh, Kurash, Belt, and also in Sport Wrestling. Turkmen sportsmen have repeatedly gone up to the victory podium in the martial arts – Kickboxing and Thai Boxing. In Jiu-jitsu, the national team of Turkmenistan has seven gold medals, in Sambo – eight, including “silver” and “bronze”. Our sportsmen became winners of competitions in Weightlifting and Track and Field, Sport Dances, Show-Jumping, Chess and Billiards. Turkmen sportsmen were not left without awards in team events – an intense match of female national team in 3x3 basketball for a place on the podium was remembered by a great many of people. Undoubtedly, the experience of successful performance at such major international competitions will continue to achieve high results. All conditions are created for it in the country. The 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games helped to make a huge step forward in the development of the Turkmen sport of high achievements, and bring it to a qualitatively new level.
