President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov instructed the newly appointed Vice Premier S.Toilyev, who supervises the sphere of education and science, to develop the concept of digital educational system of the country. At today's Cabinet of Ministers meeting, the Head of the State called the improvement of the national science and education as one of priority of Turkmenistan's policy, in particular, training highly professional young staff, a new generation of scientists, as well as the development of international cooperation in this field. Based on these objectives, it is necessary widely develop the digital educational environment, noted the Head of the State, highlighting the main tasks in this area. So, at all levels of education it is necessary to improve training programs using digital resources (e-books, seminars, and other information and communication technologies), as well as the appropriate methods (distance learning, etc.). At the beginning of 2016/2017 school year there are 1852 secondary schools in the country. Of these, the most part - 66.7 percent are in rural areas. 82 percent of the total numbers of schools were equipped with interactive multimedia equipment and modern computer technologies. Every year on September 1, all first-graders of Turkmenistan are given new netbooks on behalf of the President of the country. There are also 17 schools for children with disabilities in the country. There are 92 music and art schools. Secondary vocational schools are presented by 42 educational institutions. In 2016 vocational schools received 2269 new computers. There are 24 universities in Turkmenistan. On September 1, 2016 University of Engineering Technology named after Oguzkhan was opened, the training is in English and Japanese. The number of personal computers in use makes 6.6 thousand units in the educational process of higher schools. From the total expenditure allocated to public and social services from the state budget of Turkmenistan, in 2016 the largest allocations were directed to education - 31 percent.
