Today, a meeting was held in the city of Arkadag between O. Atabaeva, Vice-President for Medical Activities of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship, and Elizabeth Rood, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the United States of America to Turkmenistan. The meeting emphasized the significance of the work carried out by the Foundation in developing international relations.
O. Atabaeva, speaking about the activities conducted by the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship, noted that the Foundation's primary tasks are of a humanitarian nature.
As emphasized, based on these tasks, the work carried out by the Foundation, established at the initiative of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Hero-Arkadag, including the conduct of necessary medical operations, has provided significant support to children in need of health restoration.
It was noted that the activities of the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation in providing corresponding assistance and support to children in neighboring countries and partner states are becoming increasingly extensive.
Elizabeth Rood, Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the United States of America to Turkmenistan, expressing gratitude for the detailed introduction to the Foundation's activities, emphasized that such work is worthy of praise and wished for its continuation and further success.
During the meeting, it was highlighted that this year marks the fourth anniversary of the Foundation's establishment, with international-level events planned to celebrate this date. A number of important issues were discussed in this context.
As noted by Elizabeth Rood, the United States supports the noble and humane work carried out by the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship and expressed readiness for joint activities to promote it, including at the international level. The diplomat expressed confidence that this would contribute to the further successful development and enrichment of the content of relations between the two countries, based on mutual goodwill.
In this regard, O. Atabaeva emphasized that Hero-Arkadag noted the expediency of joint work by the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Assistance to Children in Need of Guardianship with relevant structures, as well as with authoritative international organizations, including the UN Children's Fund.
In this context, the meeting highlighted the importance of the tasks outlined by the National Leader of the Turkmen people in this direction and expressed confidence that their implementation, along with enhancing the Foundation's prestige on the international stage, would contribute to strengthening peace and humanitarian principles inherent in the policy of permanent neutrality, which independent Turkmenistan consistently follows, promoting friendship and brotherhood.
The meeting emphasized that the implementation of this work in the current year, 2025 – the "International Year of Peace and Trust" – will have particular significance.
