The city of Arkadag hosted an international media forum dedicated to the opening of the country's first «smart» city. The meeting was attended by foreign guests, heads of a number of institutions of Turkmenistan, foreign and Turkmen journalists who took part in the opening ceremony of the city of Arkadag.

Speakers at the media forum congratulated the people of Turkmenistan on such a grandiose event - the opening of the new city of Arkadag.

According to the speakers, this is an event of incredible scale not only for Turkmenistan, but also for the entire Central Asian region and the world as a whole.

At the media forum, it was noted that the very name of the new city - Arkadag, speaks of continuity and loyalty to the traditions of the Turkmen people, which in itself arouses great respect and admiration among the guests.

The meeting participants also noted that the appearance of the new city of Arkadag on the map of the country indicates that the inspirer of this megaproject, the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has a clear vision of the future, prospects for the development of the state and inspires the people of the country to work in this direction. In this regard, it was emphasized that the city of Arkadag would undoubtedly become the starting point for further grandiose achievements of the Turkmen people in order to make people's lives better and more comfortable.

Speakers at the conference emphasized the powerful creative impetus given by the opening of a new city at this difficult time, when many regions of the world are facing complex challenges. According to the participants of the media forum, this gives hope that the creative force is capable of producing such outstanding results, and this is a kind of signal, including to the countries of the region, since Central Asia is already facing serious environmental challenges. One of the topics of the forum was the creation of conditions in Turkmenistan for the achievement of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. In this regard, it was noted that the country is taking important steps in this direction. In particular, it was emphasized that the opening of the first «smart» city of Arkadag in the country is an important step towards achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goal number 11, which provides for the creation of sustainable, resilient and inclusive cities.
