Today, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov took part in the solemn events held in Moscow on the occasion of the 78th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945.

As previously reported, the invitation to take part in the planned celebrations dedicated to the Great Victory over fascism was announced during a May 7 telephone conversation between President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

One of the central topics of the conversation that took place at that time was the discussion of the prospects for the further development of a multifaceted interstate dialogue, which is being successfully built both in bilateral and multilateral formats. At the same time, it was noted that the Declaration on deepening the strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation, signed during the first official visit of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to the Russian Federation in June last year, gave a powerful impetus to the expansion of traditional relations in all key areas.

However, the successful interaction of the two countries in the modern era was largely predetermined by the long-standing traditions of friendship and mutual trust, which are rooted in the depths of centuries.

One of the important pages of our joint history was the Great Victory over Nazism in World War II, which is rightfully the common property and pride of many peoples who bravely fought shoulder to shoulder on the battlefields and defended with their blood the right to a peaceful and tranquil life for future generations.

And that is why the participation of the President of Turkmenistan in the current celebrations in honour of Victory Day has a deeply symbolic meaning, becoming a reflection of respect for the common feat of the heroes-liberators, whose memory will live forever.
