Turkmenistan has widely celebrated Cultural and Arts Professionals’ and Magtymguly Pyragy’s Poetry Day. The festive program started in the historical center of Ashgabat with a flower-laying ceremony at the monument to Magtymguly Pyragy in the park on the avenue named in honor of the prominent Turkmen poet and thinker. Today, Magtymguly etrap, Balkan velayat hosted a closing ceremony of the Culture Week-2019 and a big festive concert. As part of the Week, concerts and exhibitions of arts and crafts and printed products were organized at culture centers and open-air venues across the etrap. A big poetry event took place in the village of Gerkez, the birthplace of Magtymguly Pyragy. The Turkmen nation’s music has a truly distinctive character in each velayat of the country with regionally diverse musical heritage and musical scenes stretching back into the past and rapidly developing today. Folk ensembles and bakhshis (folk musicians) from across the country showcased their regions’ music. Devoted to the holiday, a gala concert was a grand finale to the large-scale cultural forum. It was held in front of the great poet’s museum in the administrative center of Magtymguly etrap. Leading Turkmen performers and young pop singers, the winners of national and international competitions, took part in the spectacular event. Musical and folk performances, celebrating our unique national traditions, brought loud applause from the packed audience. One of the highlights of the concert was when a symbolic baton was handed to Dashoguz velayat, the region to host a Culture Week in 2020.
