One more victory was added to the Turkmen sportsmen’s “victory-box”. Our chess players won the gold medal at the large international competitions of the “Open” tournament which was recently held in the city of Sovmesar (The Islamic Republic of Iran).

Our young players of the ancient intellectual game have obtained impressive results at the World Schools Individual Chess Championship, which recently ended in one of the famous tourist cities of Thailand – Pattaya. Three medals – two gold and one bronze replenished the “medal box” of Turkmen sportsmen.

Our athletes achieved good results at the sixth World Shotokan Championship, which recently ended in Tbilisi (Georgia). Two gold and one bronze medals, won in individual kumite and team kata (complex exercises) replenished the “medal box” of Turkmen sportsmen.

The National Chess Championship among men – members of the National League, ended with the triumph of young Turkmen Grand Master, 20-year-old resident of Ashgabat Maksat Atabaev. The representative the capital’s Chess School of the Ashgabat Sports Committee had no defeat in the course of the competitions, having scored 11.5 points out of 15 (10 wins and 5 draws).

The “Ashgabat-Derweze-Ashgabat” marathon, co-organized by the State Sports Committee of Turkmenistan, the Ministry of Health and Medical Industry of the country, and the National Motor Sport Center, ended in the capital.

Last week, the Turkmen capital hosted the International Sports Media Forum, organized in the framework of the International Conference dedicated to the Asian Games-2017 and the role of Turkmenistan in the development of sport for peace and prosperity.

Athletes of the Turkmen Kickboxing School have distinguished themselves at two large tournaments held recently in Latvia and Germany.

Turkmen martial arts professionals continue to please their fans with victories in the international competitions. This time, Turkmen professionals have achieved successes in the Chinese Wushu Open Championship of Latvia and the Thai Boxing competitions for the World Cup between students.
