On October 11, 2024, the National Leader of Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov met with the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, who arrived in Turkmenistan on a working visit.

Having warmly greeted the head of the friendly state and thanked him for participating in the representative International Forum «Interrelation of Times and Civilizations – Basis of Peace and Development» held in Ashgabat, the National Leader of Turkmen people congratulated Shavkat Mirziyoyev on being awarded the jubilee medal «Magtymguly Pyragynyň 300 ýyllygyna», which became a high appraisal of the personal contribution of the Leader of Uzbekistan to the popularization of the rich creative heritage and preservation of the memory of the great Turkmen classic.

As noted, this is evidenced by the Resolution signed at the beginning of this year on the broad celebration of the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi in Uzbekistan, as well as the joint biographical film by Turkmen and Uzbek filmmakers about the brilliant master of words, who holds a special place in the history of literature and culture not only of the Turkic peoples, but also of the whole world.

Having thanked for the kind words, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev highly appraised the level of organization of the forum, held with the participation of heads of state and government of a number of foreign countries.

During the conversation, topical issues of interstate cooperation were discussed, including regional and global agenda subjects of mutual interest.

Having highlighted political and diplomatic interaction amongst the priority areas of bilateral cooperation, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan noted with satisfaction the mutual support of Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan for each other’s initiatives and proposals within the framework of authoritative international organizations, primarily the UN.

Taking this opportunity, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as a sign of friendship and special respect, presented the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan with the book « Magtymguly», translated into the Uzbek language.

Having thanked the Uzbek Leader for the gift, the National Leader of Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov announced the upcoming presentation of this collection of poems in the coming days and expressed confidence that the traditionally fraternal ties between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan will continue to dynamically develop and deepen in the spirit of mutual respect, solidarity and partnership.

At the end of the meeting, the interlocutors wished each other good health, well-being and great success in responsible state activities, as well as peace, progress and prosperity to the fraternal peoples of the two countries.
