The head of state signed a decree on accepting citizenship of Turkmenistan

Guided by the principles of humanism and virtue of our ancestors, based on commitment to generally recognized international norms for the protection of human rights and freedoms, taking into account the right of people to freely choose citizenship, and in accordance with the Law of Turkmenistan «On Citizenship of Turkmenistan», the President of Turkmenistan signed the Decree «On Acceptance into Citizenship of Turkmenistan».

In accordance with the document, a large group of persons permanently residing in the territory of our country who do not have citizenship were accepted into citizenship of Turkmenistan.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the State Migration Service, together with other relevant ministries and industry departments are instructed to continue work on processing documents of stateless persons who have applied for their acceptance into citizenship of Turkmenistan, with subsequent submission of relevant proposals to the President of Turkmenistan.
