National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, within the framework of his two-day official visit to Dushanbe, held negotiations with the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon.
After the official ceremony of the meeting, the parties held talks both in a one-on-one format and with the participation of delegations.
The interlocutors discussed the present state and prospects of further development of bilateral cooperation. Having concretised key vectors of interstate interaction in the light of requirements of time and priorities of national economies of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan, leaders of the two countries shared the view to give a qualitatively new impulse to interstate relations in various areas.
A special emphasis was on necessity of involvement of available potential of the sides in trade relations with a view of increase in volumes of goods turnover. At the same time, necessity of intensification of activity of the Intergovernmental commission on trade and economic, scientific, and technical cooperation and the Turkmen-Tajik business council was marked.
They mentioned energy, transport and communications, industry and agriculture sectors among the basic areas of bilateral interaction. They developed upon the ecology issues separately, in particular, the National Leader of the Turkmen people and President Emomali Rahmon supported the further strengthening and perfection of activity of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea (IFAS), which is a key regional structure aimed at maintenance of cooperation in the sphere of improvement of the ecological, social and economic situation in the Aral Sea region.
With a view of preservation and consolidation of relations of mutual friendship and cooperation between peoples of two countries readiness of Turkmenistan and Tajikistan for expansion of partnership in education, science, culture, public health services, physical culture and sports was confirmed.
The topical issues of the regional and global agenda representing mutual interest also became the subject of detailed discussion. In the given context, exchange of opinions on possibilities of further interaction within the framework of the large international and regional organisations, first of all within the United Nations Organization, for the solution of the essential problems connected with modern challenges and threats took place.
Upon completion of negotiations, the ceremony of signing of bilateral documents took place in the expanded format.
