National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, speaking at the summit of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) in Astana, spoke in favor of expanding multilateral cooperation between the OTS countries in the field of culture.
«I would like to note that cultural and humanitarian relations occupy an important place on the agenda of multilateral cooperation between Turkic states that have similar histories, cultures, languages and traditions», –noted Hero-Arkadag.
According to the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, the close cooperation undertaken in this area is systematically developing on the basis of friendship and brotherhood, mutual respect, trust and support for each other.
Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov in this regard proposed regularly holding bilateral and multilateral cultural events, in particular, joint Days of Culture of Turkic States.
The National Leader of the Turkmen people also noted that contacts are developing at a high level within the framework of the International Organization for Culture and Art of the Turkic States (TURKSOY). Noting the significant activities of (TURKSOY) in the cultural and humanitarian direction, Hero-Arkadag emphasized the expediency of expanding the joint events carried out within its framework.
Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty especially noted that Turkmenistan plans to hold a number of international events in 2024 on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the great Turkmen classical poet and philosopher Magtymguly Pyragy, as well as the proclamation of the ancient Turkmen city of Anev as the «Cultural Capital of the Turkic World».

The National Leader of the Turkmen people also emphasized that he considers it appropriate to strengthen cooperation in the fields of science and education, healthcare, sports and other areas. In particular, Hero-Arkadag proposed intensifying contacts between research institutes, higher education institutions and leading scientific centers.
