President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, speaking at the plenary meeting of the 78th session of the General Assembly of the United Nations in New York, quoted the classic of Turkmen and world literature Magtymguly Pyragy.
“Next year, in Turkmenistan and far beyond its border, including the UN, will celebrate the 300th anniversary of prominent son of Turkmen nation, poet, philosopher and public figure Magtymguly Pyragy,” the head of state said.
He underlined, whole humanity honors the memory of him and pays due respect to the great humanitarian, who largely contributed not only to the world literature, but also to the development of Eastern civilization and of the whole world.
“And I would like to conclude with an extract from the poem of Magtymguly called “To the Humanity”, in which he addresses his fellows and descendants these life-affirming lines:
“No matter asleep or awake,
Who will be loyal to his intentions,” the President of Turkmenistan quoted the poet.
“Let the loyalty to the creative thoughts, ideals of peace, justice, and progress serve as a main and clear guide in our joint work,” the head of state wished.
