The briefing held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was devoted to the historic decisions taken on February 11 at the session of the Halk Maslahaty of the Milli Gengesh held by President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
The meeting was attended by heads and representatives of the Foreign Ministry, heads of diplomatic missions accredited in the country and representatives of international organizations.
During the briefing, it was emphasized that the important political event that took place in the country the day before is of great importance both from the point of view of the internal development of the state and society, and the international activities of Turkmenistan. At the same time, it was noted that the foreign policy strategy was carried out in strict accordance with the fundamental principles of our state, namely, neutrality, peacefulness, good neighborliness and mutually beneficial cooperation.
The discussion of the issues put on the agenda of the Halk Maslahaty of the Milli Gengesh was initially of a nationwide nature, reflecting the high political and legal culture, the primordial traditions of democracy and the direct participation of citizens in making important state decisions in order to ensure the further progressive development of the Motherland and the well-being of the Turkmen people.
The President of the country during the session of the Halk Maslahaty of the Milli Gengesh signed a resolution on approval of the Program “Revival of a New Epoch of a Powerful State: The National Program of Socio-Economic Development of Turkmenistan in 2022-2052”.
In this regard, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was quoted as saying that foreign policy is based on the Constitution of Turkmenistan, the Constitutional Law on Permanent Neutrality of Turkmenistan, the Concept of Turkmenistan’s foreign Policy as a neutral state, as well as other legislative acts. This policy is exemplary, calling on the whole human world to improve relations. Neutrality is our political doctrine. We will continue to develop positive international cooperation with all foreign partners on the basis of equality and mutual respect.
In the speeches of the heads of diplomatic missions, it was emphasized that today the world community is witnessing that under the leadership of the Turkmen leader, the increased foreign policy resource of Turkmenistan is maximally used as a political and diplomatic tool for achieving peace, security and sustainable development. The permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan is the most important factor in ensuring regional stability, establishing a civilized dialogue between the countries on the basis of mutual understanding and respect. Constructive and balanced approaches of neutral Turkmenistan to global processes contribute to strengthening the atmosphere of trust, equality and respect for the interests of all states and peoples.
In this regard, it was noted that Turkmenistan in fact confirms its commitment to the consistent practical implementation of initiatives and proposals put forward from the high rostrum of the United Nations and other major forums and conferences on topical issues of our time.
At the end of the briefing, it was once again stated that, following the main objectives of foreign policy based on constitutional norms and the Concept of our country’s foreign policy developed by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, independent neutral Turkmenistan will continue to actively contribute to building a stable, fair, democratic world order based on the principles of international law, and will do everything necessary to strengthen peace and security on the planet.
