Important areas of Turkmen-Iranian cooperation discussed

The Turkmen delegation made a working trip to the city of Tehran, Islamic Republic of Iran, on January 8-9, where they held meetings with a view to further developing bilateral relations following the instructions of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

The Turkmen delegation was warmly greeted at the Tehran International Airport. Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mehdi Safri, warmly welcoming Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs R. Meredov and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Serdar Berdimuhamedov, expressed confidence that the current visit will be of great importance in the further comprehensive development of relations between the two countries.

An exchange of views on topical issues took place at the meeting at the airport between the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs R. Meredov and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Serdar Berdimuhamedov with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Iran. The parties talked about the need for consistent development of bilateral relations, in particular, on the use of all available opportunities for political and diplomatic cooperation.

As part of a working trip to Tehran, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs R. Meredov and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Serdar Berdimuhamedov were received by the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Seyed Ebrahim Raisi. The Iranian leader reaffirmed Iran's commitment to strengthening and building up relations with Turkmenistan, which is implementing a peaceful, constructive policy that has won the country and President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov high authority in the world arena.

Stressing that every effort will continue to be made to intensify productive interaction in priority areas, the meeting participants expressed confidence in further successful development of Turkmen-Iranian cooperation based on centuries-old friendly and good-neighborly ties.

Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs R. Meredov and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Serdar Berdimuhamedov met with the First Vice President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohammad Mohber. The parties noted that the partnership relations between the two countries reached a qualitatively new level as a result of high-level negotiations. As it was emphasized, the relations established between the two states in the trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres are of particular importance both in strengthening the respective economies and in the development of cooperation based on mutual understanding. In addition, it was noted that there are opportunities for developing contacts in a number of other areas.

The Turkmen delegation also held a meeting with the Vice-President of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mohsen Rezayi, discussing topical issues of the development of bilateral and multilateral relations. The parties noted the high level of the Turkmen-Iranian partnership based on mutually trusting political and diplomatic dialogue and effective trade and economic cooperation.

During the working trip, members of the delegation of our country met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Hossein Amir Abdollahiyan. The two countries reaffirmed their commitment to constructive interaction within the framework of authoritative international organizations, primarily the United Nations.

The sides noted with satisfaction the coincidence or similarity of positions on key aspects of global and regional politics of mutual interest, in particular, in the field of ensuring universal peace, security and sustainable development.

The importance of further expanding and strengthening bilateral trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation was also noted.

At the meeting of the Turkmen delegation with the Minister of Roads and Urban Development of Iran Rostam Ghasemi, emphasis was placed on the existing great potential for cooperation in the spheres of industry, transport and communications, in particular, on the expansion of international and regional road and rail transport.

The Turkmen side emphasized that Iran is one of the main trade and economic partners for our country, noting the important role of the Joint Intergovernmental Turkmen-Iranian Commission on Economic Cooperation, the 16th meeting of which was held in Tehran in October last year, in this context.

In addition, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Minister of Foreign Affairs R. Meredov and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Serdar Berdimuhamedov discussed issues of expanding trade and economic partnership with Iranian Oil Minister Javad Ovji. The parties also exchanged views on the implementation of interstate agreements on priority areas of interaction, including in the field of oil and gas, the oil refining industry. They spoke for the need to intensify cooperation in the trade, economic and energy fields.

Thus, the numerous working meetings held by the delegation of Turkmenistan on important areas of Turkmen-Iranian relations confirmed the existence of a solid potential for expanding effective partnership, which, due to the mutually trusting policy of Presidents Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Seyed Ebrahim Raisi, is now becoming more progressive on the basis of the principles of equality. mutual respect and good neighborliness.
