On November 27, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov received Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Khusrav Noziri who arrived in the capital for participation in the XV Summit of heads of the ECO states.
Having welcomed the head of the state and having expressed gratitude for the shown hospitality, Khusrav Noziri noted a powerful contribution of our country to the strengthening of constructive partnership in regional and global dimensions, corresponding to goals of universal well-being.
Turkmenistan, consistently putting into practice its creative foreign policy strategy under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, shows a responsible approach to issues of international cooperation, ECO Secretary General signified. Organization of such representative forum in Ashgabat, which will become an open platform for a wide exchange of opinions on new approaches and interaction forms between the Organization member states, including issues of stability and security in Central Asia serves as a regular evidence of it.
Having thanked for his kind words, the leader of the nation noted that he is glad to welcome the head of the authoritative international economic structure, which plays a significant role in realization of major joint projects, directed to maintenance of well-being and prosperity of people, peace and progress in the region. Having underlined that Turkmenistan attaches a great value to partnership with ECO, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov confirmed adherence of the Turkmen party to the course of intensification of this cooperation.
Throughout the meeting an exchange of opinions on the issues which were put on the agenda of the forthcoming Summit.
Strategic directions of effective interaction in the context of present chairmanship of Turkmenistan in the given Organization and realisation of the corresponding Concept became a subject of detailed discussion as well.
Having ascertained an important role of our country in development of regional relations, the ECO Secretary General emphasised the importance of creative initiatives put forward by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov within the international forums, including those made at the XIV Summit of the Organization. These proposals, Khusrav Noziri said, are directed both to activization of regional and international economic relations, and development of balanced decisions concerning the global agenda.
Thereupon President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov marked that Turkmenistan intends to promote henceforth enhancement of productive partnership within the ECO, to involve the versatile joint potential that is equitable to interests of sustainable development. Our country, the leader of the nation continued, aspires to use effectively the neutral status for establishment of wide meaningful dialogue with all interested parties with a view of maintenance of common security and stability, creation of favourable conditions for productive relations.
Having expressed gratitude to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for the given initiative support in advancement of productive relations, their filling with their new concrete points, the head of the international institution expressed confidence in the success of the present Summit organised by our country within its chairmanship in ECO.
At the end of the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and his guest, having confirmed adherence of Turkmenistan and the Economic Cooperation Organization to a long-term meaningful dialogue, stated their confidence in the further development of mutually beneficial relations.
