Working video conference meeting on inclusion of Ashgabat to the Smart City Network of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization in “Design” category has been held in the Ministry of Culture. Permanent representative of our country in the UNESCO has also took part in the session in video conference format.
Issues related to inclusion of Ashgabat to the UNESCO Smart City Network have been specified, achieved results and planned further activity have been discussed at the session. The sides have also exchanged the views on development of long-term program on cooperation between the cities of the Network, which are willing to invest to culture and social integration.
As is known, relative nomination application of Ashgabat has been officially accepted by the UNESCO Secretariat this months. It will be studied by independent experts and the final decision on this subject will be voiced by the UNESCO Secretary General on the threshold of the World Day of Cities, which is observed on October 31.
Inclusion of Ashgabat to the UNESCO Smart City Network will be not only another fact of recognition of merits of Turkmen capital in development of international cultural dialog but will also allow expanding its cooperation with other cities of the world, which also see the culture and creativity as a strategic element of stable social and economic development.
