UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres addressed participants of the International Conference "Turkmenistan and the United Nations: Cooperation for Peace and Trust" on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of Turkmenistan's accession to the UN.

“I am pleased to congratulate Turkmenistan on the 29th anniversary of the country’s membership in the United Nations. Turkmenistan is an authoritative member state that plays a proactive and constructive role in achieving the goals of the Organization, including through developing regional and international cooperation and promoting preventive diplomacy.

“Turkmenistan’s status of permanent neutrality, opening of the UN Regional Centre for Preventive Diplomacy for Central Asia, and numerous initiatives put forward by Turkmenistan at the UN General Assembly, including the General Assembly resolution declaring 2021 as the International Year of Peace and Trust stand as valuable contribution to our common efforts to ensure peace, security and prosperity.

“I express my gratitude to Turkmenistan for its efforts and convey my congratulations on this anniversary”.
