Turkmen martial arts professionals continue to please their fans with victories in the international competitions. This time, Turkmen professionals have achieved successes in the Chinese Wushu Open Championship of Latvia and the Thai Boxing competitions for the World Cup between students. Altogether the athletes of Turkmenistan have taken 11 prize winning places, including 8 gold, 2 silver and 1 bronze medals. … The Open Wushu Championship of Latvia, recently held in the city of Riga, has been organized for the third time already. About 150 athletes of Russia, Lithuania, Estonia, Norway, Poland, Belarus and other countries have taken part in the competitions. Our country has been represented by 10 athletes, 8 of them have won gold medals and two have become silver medalists. At that, in the under 56 kg weight class men's group only athletes of Turkmenistan have reached the final. They are Charyklych Taganglyzhov from Ashgabat and Shirli Annaev from Bayramali. Capital’s athlete Ch. Taganglyzhov has demonstrated the better techniques in the Latvian Championship’s Turkmen final, winning the gold medal. In the men's group gold medals have been taken also by Rahat Rahimov (under 60 kg), Salahetdin Bayramov (under 65 kg), Gochmurad Jumaniyazov (under 70 kg), Muhammed Kurbanov (under 75 kg) and Kemal Sahatov (under 85 kg). In the women’s national team our compatriot Aynabat Jumamuradova has performed successfully, leaving nobody any chances in a contest for gold medal in the weight class under 48 kg. Turkmen athletes have taken two more medals - gold and silver in the competitions between juniors. Bayrammurad Babayev has taken the highest place on the medal podium and Bayrambibi Nurmuhammedova has become a silver medalist. So impressive indicator (8 gold and 2 silver medals) became the best compared to the results of all teams participating in the Open Wushu Championship of Latvia that has enabled our national team to occupy the leading position in the unofficial team total. At the present time, the Turkmen professionals of the ancient Eastern martial art are to make preparations for the IX Martial Arts Games to be held by the end of April in St.-Petersburg (the Russian Federation). They are among the largest competitions in the world sports arena, which annually bring together the best martial arts professionals from fifty countries. Wushu professionals of Turkmenistan will participate in the forthcoming Games for the first time. Therefore, double responsibility for successful performance lies on the shoulders of our athletes. The final composition of the national team will be determined by results of the national championship to be held on April 10-12 in the administrative center of Dashoguz velayat. As for the Thai Boxing World Cup, it has been held for the first time. The hosting country has been the home of this martial art - Thailand. The competitions have brought together boxers from 40 countries, including Russia, China, the USA, Germany, Turkmenistan, Malaysia, Turkey, Morocco, Ukraine and others. Among our compatriots Rasul Rasulov achieved success, taking third place on the medal podium in the weight class under 91 kg after his confident victory in the quarterfinals over the Turkish athlete. One of the strongest of masters of Thai boxing in the world prevented R. Rasulov from reaching the final. Reigning champion of Turkmenistan R. Rasulov is now the main candidate for the national team to represent our country at the V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games to be held in Ashgabat in 2017. In the meantime, R. Rasulov together with other Turkmen martial arts professionals is to make preparation for another Thai Boxing World Cup to be held in Thailand again in August of current year.
