Last week, Culture Days of Turkmenistan were held in Yerevan (the Republic of Armenia). The official opening ceremony of Culture Days of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Armenia took place in one of the best metropolitan halls - Armenian Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre named after A. Spendiaryan, which is the country’s oldest theater located in the center of Yerevan. The ceremony had brought together representatives of the general public, diplomatic missions accredited in Armenia, the creative intelligentsia, mass media, and students. As was emphasized at the opening ceremony, the present celebration of friendship was not only a cultural event, but also a symbol of close cooperation and mutual respect between the two nations. The event was expected to add a vivid page to the history of bilateral relations and contribute to the spiritual and cultural flowering of the two friendly peoples and further development of cooperation for the general progress. A concert of cultural and art masters of Turkmenistan was held on the Armenian Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre stage. Its program included the wonderful folk melodies and songs, classical and variety music and dances. A concert that opened the program of Culture Days of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Armenia was a great success. The audience gave prolonged applause to the performers who organized for them the unforgettable festival of friendship and creativity. The participants and guests once again became convinced of warmth and sincere sympathy in relations between our peoples. It should be noted also that an exhibition showing works of young Armenian artists from 4 to 16 years of age was organized in a theater foyer by the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Republic of Armenia in honor of the announced in our country Year of Neutrality and Peace. The same day, the Turkmenistan’s delegation was received in the Armenian Ministry of Culture. In the course of meeting the increasing dynamics of Turkmen-Armenian cultural and humanitarian cooperation was noted and the future areas of cooperation were defined. These areas include theatre, organization of festivals, cinematography, etc. Representatives of the Armenian cultural sphere were invited for participation in such events in Ashgabat, as the International Scientific Conference «Dialogue of Cultures on the Great Silk Road», the International Art Exhibition, as well as the festivities on the occasion of 20th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality and the Year of Neutrality and Peace. The Ministry of Culture of Armenia held in its conference hall a presentation of the restoration project to be carried out at the unique architectural monument in Argavand village (Mausoleum of Turkmen Emirs). This monument is a family burial vault of the Sadly Dynasty’s Turkmen beks. The Turkmen delegation also visited the «Matenadaran» Scientific Research Institute of ancient manuscripts named after St. Mesrop Mashtotz and saw the exhibits of the Museum’s exposition halls where the unique manuscripts and hand-written materials, including the written sources about the Turkmen people’s history and culture, are stored. The Exhibition of Turkmen Applied and Decorative Arts and Museum Treasures was held in the Folk Arts Museum named after Ovanes Sharambeyan in Yerevan, which showed original traditions and customs of the Turkmen people, their unique art and achievements in the cultural sphere in the new historical epoch. Art workers of Turkmenistan gave performances within the framework of creative forums in Vanadzor and Gyumri cities. The cultural event was closed by a concert on the stage of the Yerevan State Musical Comedy Theatre named after A. Paronyan held on the occasion of 20th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s neutrality and announcement of 2015 the Year of Neutrality and Peace. A familiarization cultural program, including tours of museums and other sights of the Armenian capital city was prepared for our country’s delegation.
