On the threshold of Day of Turkmenistan’s Constitution and Magtymguly Fragi’s Poetry, a representative delegation of our country’s artistic intelligentsia went on a pilgrimage to Golestan Province, the Islamic Republic of Iran to visit graves of the prominent sons of the Turkmen people – Magtymguly and Dovletmammed Azadi. The delegation, consisting of cultural and art workers, scientists, lecturers, school teachers, representatives of public organizations and the mass media, elders would participate in the solemn events in honor of the Turkmen poets, whose creative and philosophical heritage is an integral part of not only the national spiritual treasures, but also the spiritual heritage of mankind. Members of the delegation were welcomed with bread and salt, and performances of art masters in the city of Serdar, Balkan velayat, festively decorated with flags, flowers and banners. The ceremony attendees recited poetry with inspiration and sang verses by Magtymguly set to music, in which the nationally beloved poet’s extraordinary talent, remarkable insight and sensitive soul merged harmoniously. The pilgrims visited the burial places of the Turkmen poets in the village of Aktokay, Golestan Province, Iran, where according to national customs and traditions, they offered up prayers. Having paid the tribute to the memory of the Turkmen people’s great sons, the pilgrims would return to Turkmenistan to participate in the celebrations to be held in Magtymguly’s native land – the village of Herkez, Etrek etrap, Balkan velayat, and in the capital of our prosperous Motherland.
