President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, who is currently on the working trip to New York for participation in the 73rd United Nations General Assembly, met with the UN Secretary – General Antonio Guterres.

As President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov mentioned in his Address to the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly, Turkmenistan pays particular attention to the SDA-2030 goal of ensuring the provision and sensible use of water resources and also sanitation for all.

Turkmenistan has taken an active part in developing the Sustainable Development Agenda for the period to 2030, and has put forward a number of specific proposals. Following the adoption by the World Summit of the Sustainable Development Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals in 2015, our country was one of the first to embark on adapting the SDGs to the national plans and social and economic development programs. In this regard, we have established an appropriate permanent mechanism for cooperation with the United Nations, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said in his Address at the UN headquarters in New York.

As the President of Turkmenistan noted in his Address to the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly, providing comprehensive security is a key issue for Central Asian states. The fight against terrorism is an extremely important item on the regional agenda.

Upon arrival in the Headquarter of the United Nations Organizations, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov had a meeting with Chairperson of the 73rd session of the UN General Assembly María Fernanda Espinosa Garcés (the Republic of Ecuador).

President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov is leaving on working visit for New York on September 29 to take part in the work of the 73rd session of the United Nations General Assembly.
