In his speech to the Elders’ Council in October, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov identified wider use of cutting-edge space technology in various sectors of the national economy as key short-term tasks. By a decision of the head of state, some 1 billion 300 million manats are to be allocated for the domestic space industry development in 2018-2024.

Located in geostationary orbit, Turkmenistan’s satellite, “TürkmenÄlem 52°Е”, enables to provide comprehensive communications services, including digital broadcasting, telephone communications, videoconferencing, data transmission, satellite Internet not only to customers in our country, but also to users in other countries in Central Asia, Iran, Turkey, North Africa, Europe. At present, high-capacity transponders of the satellite allow high-definition national television and radio broadcasting. Various ministries and agencies of Turkmenistan use satellite-provided services.

The 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games will be watched and listened to throughout the world. Turkmenistan is preparing for a large-scale sporting event to be held at high level this autumn. A great deal of work is underway to expand the information and telecommunications networks which will improve the quality of communications and broadcasting.

On August 4, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov arrived in the new Unmanned Air Vehicles Centre (UAVC) under the Ministry of Interior Affairs. At the square, near the Centre, the head of state received a report of the State Security Secretary, Minister of National Security Ya.Berdiev.

On July 9, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov held an enlarged meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers to sum up the running year’s six-month state-of-the-economy results, discuss the results achieved during implementation of the Presidential program and other programs of socio-economic development of the country.

Communications satellite “TurkmenAlem52oE” started the broadcasting of programs of the national television and radio channels. From this day, the users of television content are able to use its services, having directed their antennas to 52 degrees of eastern longitude, where Turkmen satellite has been located in orbit in one point of firmament, in more than 35 thousand kilometers over surface of the planet.
