Prospects for the development of Turkmen-Tatarstan relations in various areas were discussed during the meeting between Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation Rustam Minnikhanov, who arrived in our country on a working visit.

Expressing sincere appreciation for the warm welcome, the guest conveyed heartfelt greetings from President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin to the Hero Arkadag. Thanking for the constant attention to the issues of Turkmen-Tatarstan relations, President Rustam Minnikhanov stressed that he was very pleased to haýe an opportunity to visit fraternal Turkmenistan again.

Thanking the guest for the kind words, Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov sent his greetings and best wishes to the President of the Russian Federation, as well as to ex-President of the Republic of Tatarstan M. Shaimiev, expressing confidence that the current visit to Turkmenistan of the RF government delegation headed by Mikhail Mishustin would give a powerful impetus to promoting bilateral cooperation, and provide new opportunities for strengthening and developing political, diplomatic, trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian relations.

During the conversation, a thorough exchange of views took place on the current state and priorities for further fruitful cooperation, which has great prospects, taking into account the existing interest, and supported by an impressive potential and extensive experience of many years of joint work in the implementation of a number of large-scale projects.

In this context, the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan emphasized that large well-known companies are successfully operating in the Turkmen market, among which “KAMAZ”, “Tatneft”, “KER-Holding”, “Kazan Helicopter Plant” and others occupy an important position. They have been providing high-quality services in our country for many years, the Arkadag pointed out, assuring that Turkmenistan would continue to provide the necessary assistance to their activities.

Speaking about the interest among the business community of Tatarstan in expanding their presence in the promising Turkmen market, President Rustam Minnikhanov noted that this is largely due to the favorable investment climate created in the country and the high international prestige of Turkmenistan as a reliable partner strictly following its obligations.

An equally significant aspect of Turkmen-Tatarstan relations is partnership in the humanitarian area, including the fields of science and education, and the training of highly qualified personnel. In this context, the Arkadag specified that today a large number of students study at the leading higher education institutions of Tatarstan in various fields, assuring that Turkmenistan intends to further expand bilateral cooperation in this area.

Along with this, the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh and his guest spoke in favor of deepening traditional contacts in the field of sports, organizing joint events and sharing experience. In this context, the importance of the first international hockey tournament of the Islamic countries and the Republic of Tatarstan, held in Kazan, during which the national team of Turkmenistan also took participation, was emphasized.

In addition, an important step in promoting the existing cooperation could be the strengthening of inter-parliamentary contacts and the exchange of experience in legislative activities. In this regard, the Hero Arkadag spoke about the appropriateness of establishing effective partnership between representatives of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan and the State Council of the Republic of Tatarstan.

In this regard, emphasizing the importance of the participation of the President of Tatarstan in laying the foundation of the main mosque of the Akhal Velayat, the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh expressed confidence that this visit would be another step in strengthening the Turkmen-Tatarstan friendship and cooperation.

President Rustam Minnikhanov took the opportunity to express his sincere gratitude to President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov for the invitation to participate in such a sacred event, emphasizing that the new spiritual temple would become a true decoration of the architectural ensemble of the modern center of the Akhal Velayat.

At the end of the meeting, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of the Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the Republic of Tatarstan of the Russian Federation Rustam Minnikhanov expressed confidence that friendly and fraternal relations between the two countries have great prospects and will continue to develop on the basis of trust and mutually beneficial partnership.
