Today, in the Turkmen agricultural university named after S.A.Niyazov, the VI international scientific conference «Cultivation of the Turkmen alabay and tazy: history, culture and art» took place. In the event organised on the occasion of the holiday of the Turkmen alabay, which is widely marked in the country, masters-dog breeders of Turkmenistan, cynologists, experts, professors, the university faculty, students specialized in the "Cynology" speciality took part.

Participants of the international scientific conference also familiarised with the exhibition of national values, works of art and printed editions, developed in the cultural centre of the higher educational school and devoted to the Turkmen alabay and tazy, which are a pride of our people. Manuals on cultivation of the alabay, cynology and veterinary science as well as works of fine arts of the alabay were presented at the exposition. Performances of actors with song and music compositions were also organized there.

Speakers at the conferences pointed out that the alabay bred in the Turkmen land throughout centuries, today thanks to the consecutive support of National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Hero-Arkadag and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has become a universal property. The alabay, which won popularity all over the world, is considered as one of the most ancient and elite breeds. The alabay as Akhal-teke horses and fine carpets, is a pride, glory and national property of our people. Thanks to initiatives of Hero-Arkadag and indefatigable efforts of the President of Turkmenistan, in our country large-scale measures are implemented to augment an international recognition of the Turkmen alabay, their cultivations and popularisation at the international level in this sphere. Necessary conditions are created for study of history of the origin of the alabay, preservations of the breed and unique qualities of its representatives.

In the book by Hero-Arkadag «Turkmen alabay», one can find detailed data of an important role, which the alabay plays in the life and destiny of our people. Having noted a humanistic significance of this product, speakers underlined that on its pages one can read research data in the field of archaeology and ethnography, interesting data on features of the breed developed by famous Turkmen selectors. Besides it, a special importance of this book for cynologists, experts of various areas and a wide range of readers was underlined.

At the international scientific conference, the special attention was attached to the activity carried out to preserve purity of the breed, popularisation of the Turkmen alabay in the world, their cultivation and propagation and breeding and selection work in the centres constructed in velayats and Ashgabat city. The significance of extended coverage of unique features, customs and fidelity of the alabay was underlined. In that connection, a priority goal is adjustment and continuation of mutually beneficial cooperation with foreign partners specialising in this area. The due work on organisation of exhibitions and competitions with participation of the Turkmen alabay not only in our country, but also abroad is conducted. In the given context, it was underlined that the celebrations organised in honour of Akhal-teke horses in the year «Independent neutral Turkmenistan - the homeland of purposeful winged horses» were rather important in worldwide popularisation of the national heritage of our people.

Speakers also marked the significance of events happened in recent years. The legal basis of protection of dogs of the alabay breed was improved, the «Law of Turkmenistan on dog breeding and cynology» was adopted. Last year, traditions of cultivation of the Turkmen alabay were included in the Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity of UNESCO. Honorary titles «Türkmenistanyň at gazanan itşynasy», «Türkmenistanyň halk itşynasy» were established. The proper work of cynologists, masters-dog breeders and experts working in this sphere, is honoured at the state level.

A great interest was evoked by performance on the artistic image of the alabay, embodied in creative works, applied and decorative arts and fine arts, and valuable historical data were delivered. Besides it, it was informed that the Turkmen alabay and tazy are a fine fruit of national selection and nature and play an important role in development of sheep breeding.

Participants of the VI international scientific conference «Cultivation of the Turkmen alabay and tazy: history, culture and art» expressed sincere gratitude to President of Serdar Berdimuhamedov and Hero-Arkadag for the created modern conditions for cultivation and propagation of the Turkmen alabay and augmentation of their international recognition.
