In the morning, Hero-Arkadag from the residence allotted for the visit went to the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea.

Further, Kim Jin Pyo gave the floor to the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

Expressing gratitude for the invitation to pay an official visit to the Republic of Korea and a warm welcome, Hero-Arkadag noted that this meeting would allow to discuss in detail the issues of expanding relations through parliaments, which would create prerequisites for the further development of the Turkmen-Korean dialogue as a whole.

Emphasizing the constructive nature of the bilateral partnership built on the principles of mutual respect and trust, Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov expressed confidence that the current visit would significantly intensify Turkmen-Korean cooperation across the spectrum, including between the parliaments of our countries.

In continuation, the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh noted that this year is marked by the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea, from which a new stage of interaction began.

We view parliamentary diplomacy as a tool for maintaining an atmosphere of peace, cooperation and mutual understanding. This is its main goal, essence and purpose.

To achieve this goal, it is necessary to promote positive initiatives, show courage in action and offer the world community new ways to find ways to prevent and extinguish conflicts, and reconcile positions. I am convinced that all this will give a positive result, said the Hero-Arkadag.

In this context, the importance of the initiative of the Republic of Korea - the diplomatic strategy “Global Axis of Countries Contributing to the Achievement of Freedom, Peace and Prosperity”, as well as the “brave initiative” as a method of conflict resolution aimed at achieving lasting peace, stable stability and security, and which is an important step towards renunciation of the use of weapons of mass destruction.

Speaking about the growing dynamics of Turkmen-Korean relations, Hero-Arkadag emphasized the importance of exchanging experience in the parliamentary field and views on further strengthening inter-parliamentary relations between the two states.

As the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, noted, parliamentarism in both countries has ancient roots. From time immemorial, it has been customary for Turkmens to choose the most worthy, wise in life experience, responsible and far-sighted people to delegate rights and powers to them in making the most important, fateful decisions.

This has always been done on a broad and, as they would say now, democratic basis. We did not adjust the process of development of the Turkmen parliamentarism to an artificial time frame. Consistently developing its practice, the Parliament of Turkmenistan switched to a bicameral form of work. His powers and quantitative composition were significantly expanded, Hero-Arkadag continued.

Today our Parliament is not only the legislative branch of power. He is the successor of our historical, centuries-old traditions. In recent years, the role of parliamentary diplomacy has only increased. In this regard, Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov announced the priority areas for the development of the Turkmen-Korean inter-parliamentary cooperation.

First, it is necessary to strengthen the work of the inter-parliamentary friendship group and direct it to strengthening bilateral relations and solving specific tasks to expand cooperation between our countries.

Secondly, it is necessary to create and effectively use the mechanisms of youth inter-parliamentary dialogue.

As Hero-Arkadag noted, today the role of public youth diplomacy in expanding opportunities for maximizing the use of the intellectual, creative and spiritual potential of youth in the interests of society and the state, as well as the experience and prospects for the development of youth public and parliamentary structures are highly appreciated.

Speaking about this, Arkadag Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov voiced the third direction, namely, the development of methods of interaction between women parliamentarians of both countries, emphasizing their significant opportunities in the humanization of international relations, care for future generations.

Fourth, partnership algorithms should be developed between our parliamentarians in order to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals. In this regard, the solution of the main tasks in such areas as food security, ecology, affordable medicine and education can become the basis for cooperation between our parliamentarians.

Thanking for the meaningful and constructive nature of today's meeting, which was held in an atmosphere of mutual respect and trust, the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan expressed confidence in further progressive and sustainable development of parliamentary relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea.

Taking the opportunity, Hero-Arkadag invited the Speaker of the National Assembly to pay an official visit to Turkmenistan at any convenient time.

Then, to the thunderous applause of the meeting participants, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea Kim Jin Pyo signed a Memorandum of mutual cooperation between the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan and the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea.

Emphasizing the great importance attached to the development of political, economic, cultural and humanitarian ties between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea, Hero-Arkadag said that as a result of today's meeting, a Memorandum of mutual cooperation was signed between the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan and the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea.

Noting that the Republic of Korea is a reliable partner of Turkmenistan, one of the first countries that supported the status of permanent neutrality of our state, Arkadag expressed his gratitude for the support.

Arkadag stated that the talks were held in a constructive manner and will continue in accordance with the program of the official visit, as well as a meeting with the President of the Republic of Korea.

Noting that this year marks the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh said that over the past period, inter-parliamentary and political-diplomatic cooperation between the two countries has reached a new level.

Having uttered a philosophical phrase that rivers do not drink their water, just as trees do not eat their fruits, Hero-Arkadag stressed that our countries strive to do everything possible for the well-being of the peoples of the world and expressed confidence in the successful development of bilateral relations.

Today, members of the Halk Maslakhaty Milli Gengesh of Turkmenistan met with Turkmen youth studying at well-known higher educational institutions of the Republic of Korea. Representatives of student youth expressed sincere gratitude to Arkadag and Arkadagly Serdar for the fact that at the state level great attention is paid to the comprehensive education of the young generation and its deep understanding of world science.

Members of the Halk Maslakhaty presented gifts to students studying in Korea on behalf of the President and the book “The Meaning of My Life” published by the Hero Arkadag.
