Today, a scientific-practical conference was held at the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management, timed to coincide with the 28th anniversary of the introduction of the national manat into circulation. The forum was attended by heads and specialists of state and joint-stock commercial banks, faculty, students of specialized higher educational institutions, as well as representatives of the country's Academy of Sciences, the Academy of State Service under the President of Turkmenistan and the media.

The agenda included topical issues related to the development of the national banking system in a new historical era.

Attendees with great enthusiasm heard the Address of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to bank employees, who notes that in the year passing under the motto "Turkmenistan is the Motherland of Peace and Trust" marked by the 30th anniversary of the sacred independence of our state, the banking system, which is the most important segment of the national economy, demonstrates accelerated growth. Currently, improving the reliability of the banking sector is a priority of state policy. The main tasks in ensuring sustainable development are the introduction of digital technologies, effective methods of investment management and elimination of risks, the development of corporate governance systems and business improvement, and increasing the income and profitability of banks.

In the speeches of the conference participants, it was emphasized that the introduction of its own currency on November 1^st, 1993 marked an important milestone in the history of monetary circulation of the Turkmen state. This historic event marked the beginning of a truly sovereign economic policy of the country, played a huge role in the successful achievement of the designated milestones of socio-economic development, strengthening the fundamentals of our independent neutral Motherland.

The speakers also noted the achievements of Turkmenistan in the field of modernization of the economy and its financial and banking sector, the role of the banking system in the socio-economic development of the country.

As it was emphasized, systematic work is underway to accelerate the integration of our state into the world economic system, to develop cooperation with international financial institutions, and good results are being achieved. The International Monetary Fund, the World Bank and other global financial institutions support and appreciate the pace of economic development of Turkmenistan in their reviews.

The transition to the digital economy, software development is successfully under way. The digitalization of banking operations allows not only to expand the range of services provided to customers, but also to improve their quality, and to reduce the time for settlements. In addition, it helps the bank to control cash flows and make appropriate decisions.

The speakers emphasized that the main goal of introducing the digital economy into the banking system is to automate the most time-consuming activities, revitalize the financial and economic system, expand the range of services, and improve efficiency and quality. It also improves the circulation of the national currency in the economy and, as a result, leads to an increase in the number of new industries in the national economic complex of the Motherland.

Among the effective measures implemented at the initiative of the head of state Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the work carried out aimed at increasing the level of confidence of depositors and investors by protecting their interests was noted.

It should be noted that as a result of the steps taken, the national currency, manat, is increasingly being used in a modern electronic format. The use of bank cards Altyn asyr, Millikart, Maşgala, Goýum bank karty, Overdraft karty, as well as international bank cards VISA and MasterCard, opened a new stage in the development of monetary circulation to the people of Turkmenistan. In addition, for effective use of money in circulation by the population and increasing their income, a deposit bank card is an active instrument, which allows making cash-free payments using payment terminals, Internet Bank and Mobile Bank services, determining the balance of deposits and accrued interest over the Internet.

A separate topic of the forum was training of personnel for the banking sector. In this context, it was noted that the Turkmen State Institute of Economics and Management is making every effort to provide the young generation with modern education, being one of the country's leading universities to train future economists.

In conclusion, the participants of the scientific-practical conference adopted an Address to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, in which they assured the head of state that they would continue to work selflessly in order to successfully achieve the set goals.

As part of the events on the occasion of the significant date, an exhibition was organized showing samples of banknotes, as well as commemorative coins made of precious metals issued by the Central Bank of Turkmenistan for the years of independence, national jewelry, materials on the history of national numismatics.
