Representatives of the Ministry of Finances and Economy have participated in the regional forum for sustainable development under the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN ECE), which was held in video conference format. The goal of the meeting was to discuss work on 2030 Agenda performed by this structure in the region and success achieved in this sphere.
Our country was one of the first to start consultations on adaptation of the Sustainable development goals t national conditions. Right after the United Nations Summit, the UN Country Group and the Government of Turkmenistan have agreed on three-phase plan of implementation of universal program document.
Special emphasis has been laid upon work performed in nationalization of the SDGs. In particular, it was highlighted that relative list, which includes 17 goals, 136 objectives and 180 indicators, has been composed by the outcomes of undertaken measures.
It was also noted in the report that the first Voluntary National Review of our country on achievement of the SDGs has been presented under High-Level Political Forum under the Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) in New York in 2019.
Specific examples of positive success almost in all goals of the 2030 Global Agenda, in particular in the sphere of improvement of wellbeing level of the population, education, healthcare, economic activity, provision of gender equality, ecological stability and other, have been brought.
Measures for reduction of negative impact of COVID-19 pandemic on the economy of the countries in the region were one of the main topics of the meeting.
