The XXV International Conference Oil and Gas of Turkmenistan (OGT) will be held on 28-29 October 2020 in Ashgabat, Turkmenistan. Organised by State Concerns Turkmengas and Turkmennebit in partnership with Turkmen Forum and supported byGaffney Cline, OGT 2020aims to bring together leading international experts and global players in the gas market to exchange knowledge and expertise while developing and strengthening international partnerships among Turkmen state organisations and international oil and gas companies. Representatives from international organisations and institutions, heads and experts of leading companies in the gas sector such as Hyundai Engineering, Shell, Gaffney Cline, NAPECO, Vitol, CNPC and Dragon Oil will take part in OGT 2020. Among key topics scheduled for the panel sessions include “Trends in the Petrochemical Sector”, “Investment opportunities in the offshore blocks in the Caspian Sea”, “The Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India(TAPI) gas pipeline project” and “Investment opportunities in the oil and gas sectors”. With the start of commercial crude oil production in 2009 from Diyarbekir field and natural gas production in 2011 from Magtymguly field, PC(T)SB has established itself as one of the largest oil and gas producer and supplier of natural gas in Turkmenistan. In line with PETRONAS’ commitment to contribute to the communities where it operates, PC(T)SB places great importance on education, talent development and capability building. Through the PETRONAS Education Sponsorship Programme, to-date, the company has sponsored 162 students from Turkmenistan. Local staff at PC(T)SB are sent to Malaysia to undergo intensive technical and practical training to upgrade their management and technical skills under a long-term manpower development plan to equip them as future leaders and technical professionals. Currently, 648 staff employed at PC(T)SB are host country nationals. In addition, a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in 2013 between Turkmenistan’s International Oil and Gas University and Universiti Teknologi PETRONAS (UTP), a leading private university in Malaysia and wholly-owned by PETRONAS. This MoU is aimed to establish an exchange of experience in educational and research activities in the oil and gas sector.
