Weightlifting competitions have been completed at the XVIIII Summer Asian Games. According to the tradition, the heavy weightlifters were the last to compete. Hojamuhammet Toychiyev represented our country in the weight category above 106 kg where he took the fourth position in the tournament table. He had to compete against titled sportsmen like Behdad Salimikordasiabi (Iran), the numerous World and Asian Champion, double winner of the Asian Games and 2012 Olympic Champion in London, Said Alihosseyni (Iran), the silver medallist of the last year world championship, Cheng Shi-Chee (Chinese Taipei), the bronze winner of2014 Asian Games, Rustam Jangabayev (Uzbekistan), 2017 Asian Champion. The four of the favourites was distinguished among the rest of sportsmen by declared weight. However, our athlete did not want to yield and first, lifted 185 kg and 190 kg after, which was his best result as the third attempt with 195 kg weight was unsuccessful. In the result, having overcome the sportsman from Chinese Taipei in snatch, H. Toychiyev was the fourth. Turkmen athlete has managed to keep his position in clean and jerk with the weight of 235 kg. By the result of two disciplines, total weight was 425 kg, which scured him on the fourth position. Behdad Salimikordasiabi won the tournament. The boxing tournament is still continuing. Two our sportsmen were able to pass through the 1/8 final. Nursahet Pazziyev in the weight category up to 75 kg had equal match against the boxer from the People’s Republic of China, however the referees gave the victory to the representative of China. The boxers will have their first quarter final fights on the next day. In addition, kursh wrestling tournament is also starting.
