The seventh meeting of the Joint Turkmen-German Working Group, the agenda of which included issues of increasing partnership in the trade and economic sphere, has been held in Ashgabat.

As reported earlier, at the Government session held on 5 May, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov was informed of the preparation for the grain harvesting season by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan in charge of the country’s agriculture, E.Orazgeldiyev. New equipment, John Deere W540 grain combine harvesters, whose first batch of about 50 units has already arrived in Turkmenistan, will be used during the upcoming harvesting campaign.

For foreign currency, entrepreneurs from Russia, United Arab Emirates, Hong Kong, Afghanistan and other countries bought polypropylene and gasoline produced at Turkmenbashy Refinery Complex. Besides, the extract of licorice, cotton fabric and thread, cotton fibre, regenerated fibre, cotton wastes were sold for foreign currency to the businessmen form Russia, UAE, Turkey and Serbia. Total amount of transactions exceeded 16 934 000 US dollars.

Drilling operations conducted by specialists of the State Concern “Turkmennebit” to drill the super-deep well in the country with the design depth of 7 thousand 150 meters, in the range of 6,689-6,695 meters, resulted in an industrial inflow of natural gas.

The new seaport will create the most favorable conditions for European countries to enter the commodity and raw materials markets of the Near and Middle East, as well as to the states of the Indian Ocean basin, allowing the freight flows to significantly reduce the distance and travel time.

During a meeting, aspects of building up trade and economic cooperation and cultural and humanitarian relations will be discussed.

Planned measures for its construction were reported at a meeting of the Government held on May 5. The Head of State ordered to carefully study the issue of creating the border highway Turkmenbashi-Garabogaz-Kazakhstan, which will be the continuation of the high-speed multimodal highway Ashgabat-Turkmenbashi, which in turn will increase the traffic flow and increase the volume of trade between the neighboring countries.

The International Conference on Transport and Logistics has completed its work in the Avaza National Tourism Zone. The agenda of the forum included a wide range of issues to stimulate and develop mutually beneficial partnerships in the transport sector on regional and global scale. The subject of the interested discussion at the sessions, held at the Hotel Berkarar, was development of the railway transport infrastructure.

Today Ashgabat has hosted a Turkmen-Palestinian business forum, which took the form of an interested exchange of opinions on the potential and prospects of bilateral cooperation. Members of the delegation led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Palestine Mazen Shamiya were among those attending the meeting.
