26 years ago, the basis of democratic, legal and temporal state as well as political, economic and cultural development of our Motherland was laid together with the declaration of the independence. Our Independence demonstrated the unity and solidarity, high self-respect, patriotism, peace-loving and friendliness of our people, - the message of the Head of the State says. The world glory of independent Turkmen state, historical events indicating steadfast growth of its international authority inspire our people to the great achievements and victories. Recently, V Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games, which consolidated our solidarity, have been held on high organizational level in one of the most beautiful cities of the Asian Region, the Ashgabat. Economic, social and cultural development of the country allows successfully implementing large-scale programmes of social and economic, cultural and education, social and political reforms. Modern estates, cities and villages with high comfort houses, secondary and high educational institutions, kindergartens, medical centres, large production and social facilities appear in the country. Large work indicating the dynamic development of national economy and the state in general is carried out in oil and gas sphere, agriculture, construction, energy, culture, science, education, health, sport and tourism spheres, - the message mentions. The Programme of social and economic development of Turkmenistan in 2018 – 2024 was adopted at the session of the Council of the Elders. Its main objective is the further consolidation of economic potential of the state and improvement of its international prestige. The authority of Turkmenistan as a state pursuing the policy of positive neutrality, peace-loving and good neighbourliness steadily grows. This policy is to consolidate the efforts for achievement of global peace and harmony, prosperity and sustainable development. In 2017, the United Nations General Assembly declared December 12 as International Neutrality Day. In the same year, our state was elected to the Executive Council of the UN Children Fund and the Commission on Women Status. The election of Turkmenistan to the UN structures like the Commission for Science and Technology, Commission for Population and Development, Commission for Social Development are among the most gratifying facts. In the same year, the final Declaration of International Sport Congress “2017 Asian Games: International Sport Cooperation for Peace and Progress” has been spread as the Resolution of the 71st session0 of the United Nations General Assembly. We are proud of the fact that Declaration on Encouragement of the Contribution of Refugee Teams to Consolidation of Peace and Human Rights initiated by us has been adopted at the 36th session of the UN Council for Human Rights during V Asian Games.
