The Mejlis hosted a meeting with the delegation of Romanian parliamentarians who arrived in Ashgabat to participate in celebrations on the occasion of the 26th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s independence. The guests took an opportunity to cordially congratulate the Turkmen Mejlis deputies on the upcoming great holiday, having wished President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov and the people of Turkmenistan peace and prosperity. The meeting participants noted with satisfaction the progressive nature of interstate relations, which are successfully developing both in bilateral and multilateral formats, including as part of the constructive dialogue with the European Union. The Romanian delegation members were given an overview of the priorities of Turkmenistan’s domestic and foreign policy, the goals and objectives of the large-scale socio-economic reforms and transformations being implemented in the country. Particular attention during a meeting was also paid to the topic of assistance to be rendered by the legislators of two countries to the intensification of interstate trade and economic relations, cultural and humanitarian contacts, cooperation in the areas of education, science, sports and tourism. The meeting participants pointed out the necessity to further strengthen inter-parliamentary relations, including by means of a regular exchange of various level delegations.
