It became clear in the course of Asia (Central Asian zone), which was held in the capital of Tajikistan – Dushanbe, where our compatriot, international master Yusup Atabayev won the second place and gained the right of participation in the world championship to be held in September of current year in Baku (Azerbaijan). Tournament of the best chess players from countries of the Central Asia was held on Swiss system in nine rounds. In total two waybills were played in male and female groups. It has conditioned hard and uncompromising fight. Moreover, it is pleasant that in this cohort of experienced masters of ancient intellectual game, where a bulk of them are grand masters, a twenty-year old chess player from Turkmenistan – Yusup Atabayev has distinguished. Student of National Institute of Sports and Tourism has accumulated 7 points from nine possible, having gained in six games convincing victories, in two – agreed with drawn game and only one was lost. Disappointing loss was in the game with experienced Kazakh grand master Rinat Jumabayev. This game became the longest at the championship (over 6 hours): pupil of the Honored Coach of Turkmenistan Aydogdy Atabayev made the only mistake, which deprived our compatriot of the first place. Now, Y. Atabayev has to compete in autumn for main trophy of World Cup. This tournament will be held on the Olympic system – knockout. Turkmen chess player has many achievements of international level. The main of them is bronze medal of World Championship among schoolchildren, which was held in 2010 in Turkey. Participant of three Worldwide Chess Olympiads – in 2008 in Dresden (Germany), in 2010 in Khanty-Mansiysk (Russia) and in 2012 in Istanbul (Turkey), - Y. Atabayev is the threefold silver prizewinner of the Championship of Turkmenistan among men, comprising the major league. And now, owing to the success at zonal Championship of Asia, he got a chance to compete for the Cup of planet. Besides second place, Yusup has earned a second score on his way to the status of international Grand Master, and has considerably raised his world rating which constituted 2435 points as of today. For execution of the higher chess rank normative, he needed to score one more point on a large tournament of the international level: Yusup can become a grand master already this autumn - during world competitions in Baku. Turkmen sportsmen in female group were also in a step from getting to a world championship. FIDE Master Bahar Hallaeva together with two other chess players - from Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan - has scored 6 points and applied for silver award. In such cases, all depends on sports coefficient correlation where our compatriot nevertheless has conceded to the competitors, having divided with them ranks from second to the fourth. This achievement has allowed putting down in an active of teacher of National institute of sports and tourism of Turkmenistan the first point on a way to an international master rank. … On last Sunday, International Tournament started in Ashgabat Specialized Chess and Draught School in which chess players from all velayats of our country and Ashgabat, as well as masters from Russia, Germany and Turkey take part. About 140 sportsmen from seven until 70 years of age struggle for medals. Winners and prizewinners will be defined on June 25.
