Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Chile is accredited to Turkmenistan

On the instructions of President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov, Chairperson of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan A.Nurberdiyeva accepted credentials from Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Chile in our country, Mr. José Manuel Silva Vidaurre. The head of national parliament, on behalf of the head of state, congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment to the responsible diplomatic post, having wished him success in strengthening the bonds of friendship, trust and mutual understanding between the two countries and their peoples. Thanking for the kind wishes, Mr. José Manuel Silva, in turn, conveyed to President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov, on behalf of the President of the Republic of Chile, greetings and wishes for wellbeing and prosperity of the Turkmen people. The Ambassador, stressing the importance of the mission entrusted to him, assured that he will make every effort to establish a full-scale interstate dialogue with Turkmenistan. Priority areas of the foreign and domestic policy were the main topics of the meeting, where an unfailing commitment of the Turkmen state to wide cooperation was emphasized, including with the countries of South America, with which a constructive dialogue has been established in recent years. The plenipotentiary representative was informed on the socio-economic reforms ongoing in Turkmenistan as part of complex programs and large-scale projects. Particular attention was paid to reforms in the areas of science, education, health and sports. Expressing sincere admiration with the white marble capital city of Ashgabat, where the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games had been held with great success, the diplomat emphasized the great importance of this grand event in strengthening partnership in the field of sports on both regional and global scales. Mr. José Manuel Silva expressed the interest of Chilean business circles in entering into contacts with Turkmen partners specializing in the transport sector, metals and other minerals processing, chemical and textile industries, agro-industrial complex, and electronics. The Mejlis activity in the context of ongoing democratic reforms was a separate topic of the meeting. At the same time, an opinion was expressed on the establishment of direct inter-parliamentary relations. * * * During his stay in Ashgabat, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Chile to Turkmenistan was received in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
