Parliamentary Delegation from Georgia Received at National Parliament of Turkmenistan

The National Parliament hosted a meeting with the representative government delegation of Georgia headed by the Speaker of the Parliament of the friendly country, Iralli Kobakhidze that has arrived in the Turkmen capital to attend the festive events in honor of the opening of the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games. The head of the legislative body of the friendly country took the opportunity to convey greetings and sincere felicitations on the beginning of the major athletic competitions from the President of Georgia, Giorgi Margvelashvili, to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the people of Turkmenistan. The guest has noted that the members of the Georgian Parliament are delighted to be visiting independent neutral Turkmenistan that joined the most dynamically developing countries of the world, and is clearly demonstrating its potential as the sports nation. One of the issues discussed at the meeting was the work of the National Parliament in providing legal support to the ongoing major reforms whose important aspects include improving the national legislation and bringing it in line with the globally accepted norms. In this context, the efficiency of collaboration with reputable international organizations and national parliaments of different countries of the world was stressed. The sides noted the importance of establishing closer ties between the legislative bodies of Turkmenistan and Georgia. Among important areas of bilateral collaboration, energy and transport were outlined as spheres possessing great potential for interregional integration and intensification of commercial and economic partnership both between our countries and the nations of Eurasia. The sides also stressed the role of traditional cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, including education, science and culture, as well as sports and tourism. The importance of holding joint events and exchange of experience in these areas was noted.
