President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov has received Minister of Al-Diwan Al-Amiri Affairs of the State of Kuwait Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah. Appreciative of the generous hospitality shown to him in Turkmenistan, the guest relayed cordial greetings from the friendly country’s head Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, who had sent the head of Turkmenistan his warm greetings, and wished good health and more success ahead in implementing the ongoing reforms. Having stressed that his country attaches great importance to strengthening the traditional bonds and enhancing the bilateral relations with Turkmenistan, Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah extended an invitation to the nation’s leader to pay an official visit to Kuwait whenever it would be convenient to him. After sending his best wishes to the Emir of the State of Kuwait and its people, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov gratefully thanked for the invitation to visit the friendly country. The nation’s leader highlighted that wider and closer cooperation with the Middle East countries, based on mutually rewarding partnership and traditions of friendship, is one of the top priorities of our country’s foreign policy. During the conversation, the head of state and the Minister of Al-Diwan Al-Amiri Affairs of the State of Kuwait exchanged views on the current state and prospective areas of Turkmen-Kuwaiti relations. Recognizing enormous potential that could be unlocked in the interests of mutually advantageous and productive cooperation, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov and Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah considered the issues relating to prospects of economic and cultural ties between the two countries. Possibilities to boost contacts in the fuel and energy sector were also under intense discussion. In particular, the parties stated that Turkmenistan and Kuwait have the largest hydrocarbon reserves in the world. This is seen as a key factor for mutual interests in promoting cooperation in the development and export of energy resources to international markets. In this context, the guest emphasized the topicality of the Turkmen leader’s initiatives in this field. Investment, trade, construction, mining, and others were outlined as promising areas. President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov and Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah spoke for expanding contacts in science and education, culture, tourism and sport. The guest noted that the decision taken by the Olympic Council of Asia to hold the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in Ashgabat serves as a perfect illustration of Turkmenistan’s meaningful contribution to the promotion of the international Olympic Movement. Stressing that the State of Kuwait’s high-ranking representatives would attend the upcoming multi-sport event, destined to increase the country’s prestige on the global sports stage, the guest expressed complete confidence in remarkable success of the Ashgabat 2017 Games. Concluding the meeting, President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov and the Minister of Al-Diwan Al-Amiri Affairs of the friendly country expressed confidence in further development of the interstate partnership. The meeting was also attended by Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the State of Kuwait to Turkmenistan Majdi Ahmad Al-Dafiri.
