A charitable contribution of the President of Turkmenistan to the fund of the palace of orphans is another act of good will, humanism and mercy and evidence for the paternal care for the younger generation. The Turkmen leader donated the royalties for his books, which are very popular among the readers in our country and well known abroad through the translation into foreign languages, to mark International Children’s Day. The ceremony of presenting the gift cheque to the staff of Dowletliler Kosgi took place in the framework of the International Children’s Day celebrations. The guests of honour, including the cabinet ministers, heads of public organisations, specialists of the education and other sectors and the elders, gathered together on the festively decorated square in front of the Dowletliler Kosgi. The exhibition of children’s drawings and handicrafts was arranged nearby the ceremony venue. The books by President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, including Ahalteke Horse – Our Pride and Glory, the volumes of the encyclopaedia Medicinal Plants of Turkmenistan, The Living Legend and Döwlet guşy had a special place in the exhibition. It also featured the Turkmen leader’s books The Flight of the ‘Heavenly Horses’, Health – the Source of Happiness, Culture – an Invaluable Treasure of the Nation, The Grandson Who Made the Dream of His Grandfather Come True, the Leader of the Nation as well as the works by the great Turkmen classical poets Magtymguly, Mollanepes , Andalib and others. The books on the history, culture and traditions of the Turkmen people include the publications about Margush and Dehistan, the popular science book The Historical Portrait of Turkmen Women, the books about the modern development of the country, the regions of Turkmenistan and Ashgabat. Textbooks and literature for schoolchildren and preschool children were displayed. Cheerful national games, art contests and volleyball and football competitions added bright colours to the palette of the celebrations. Young painters captured the happy moments in their colourful ‘chronicle’. Those speaking at the ceremony noted that the care for children was a priority objective of the social policy of the Turkmen state. Particular attention is paid to ensuring the rights of orphans to housing, education, health care, etc. Such guardianship allows orphans to take an active part in public life. Many children are the winners in prestigious art contests and international festivals held in Turkmenistan and abroad. Children from Dowletliler Kosgi include the 2015 Gulbaba Prize laureates, winners of national art contests and the Altyn Asyr state contest and prize winners of the festivals held in foreign countries. They demonstrated their talents and artistic abilities during the ceremony. Young artists performed buoyant dances and inspiring songs, glorifying the beloved homeland. Creating favourable conditions for the life of orphans, ensuring their rights to education, health care and providing them with many other benefits is an essential aspect of the social policy of the Turkmen state. The centres where orphans are provided with the state support and assistance they require for a decent life and integrated development are opened in Ashgabat and the regions of the country. The special fund for orphans was established with the view to provide guardianship to the graduates of such children’s institutions. The fact of the establishment of the special fund for orphans vividly illustrates the unceasing concern of the state for its young citizens who are deprived of parental care by force of circumstances. A pleasant surprise was the participation of the Josgun dance ensemble in the celebrations at Dowletliler Kosgi. The young dancers had recently returned from Turkey where they had successfully performed in the International Festival Çoçuk Şöleni in Istanbul. They represented Turkmen culture and the national art of dancing in the brotherly country and received a special diploma for their masterly performance. After the ceremony had concluded, children from Dowletliler Kosgi visited the Monument Arkadag and other picturesque places of interest in Ashgabat.
