President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov has received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Murad Ashraf Janjua, who presented his credentials to the head of state. Appreciative of the personal audience, the diplomat conveyed warm greetings from President of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain, who sent President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the entire Turkmen nation wishes of happiness, peace and prosperity. After thanking for the kind words, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov extended his best wishes to President of Pakistan Mamnoon Hussain, and highlighted Turkmenistan’s interest in strengthening fruitful cooperation with neighboring countries in the region, in particular with Pakistan since the two nations share deep historical roots, common culture and traditions. Offering his congratulations to the diplomat on his appointment, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov wished him enormous success in his noble mission. During the meeting, the parties held an interest-based exchange of opinions on the key aspects of interstate relations, which are directly contributed by the top-level trust-based Turkmen-Pakistani dialogue, as well as by similarity or concurrence of the two countries’ attitudes towards a number of important international and regional issues. In this context, emphasis was placed on the topicality of the initiatives by the President of Turkmenistan on building international transport-transit corridors and ensuring global energy security. A special topic of the discussion was the prospects for stepping up the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project. Having confirmed his country’s strong interest in accelerating the TAPI project, the ambassador expressed confidence that the large-scale project would promote economic development in the region and the world over. The diplomat also stressed the importance of a project aimed to supply Turkmen energy to Pakistan. In the course of the meeting, the President of Turkmenistan and the ambassador also discussed some other issues relating to the diversification of trade-economic cooperation. The parties shared an opinion that the traditional cultural-humanitarian ties, cooperation in science, education, health and sport were and will be the integral part of bilateral relations.
