In the framework of the official visit to Azerbaijan, the Turkmen leader visited one of modern Baku’s symbols – the Heydar Aliyev Center. The Center’s management warmly welcomed the distinguished guest at the main entrance. Coming through the building, which is rightfully considered to be one of the masterpieces of modern architecture, the Turkmen leader asked about the history and features of the Center. In the information submitted, it was noted that the Centre was established according to the Ukase of President Ilham Aliyev, dated December 29, 2006. Its main task is the promotion of strenuous development of history, language, cultural, national and spiritual values. This unique construction was erected upon the original project of famous architect Zaha Hadid – the only woman honored with the highest award – the Pritzker Architecture Prize. The complex consists of three main components. One part is occupied by the Heydar Aliyev’s Museum, three floors of which contain a collection of exhibits, narrating his life and work. The other section houses exhibition halls with galleries, disposing archaeology, history, folk art expositions. There are also several halls, showcasing the works of contemporary artists and photographers as from Azerbaijan so other countries of the world. The third part is occupied by a 4-level concert hall, named as the Auditorium, with facilities for conferences and a media center. A beautiful landscape park with two decorative pools and an artificial lake is laid out around the Center. The building has various interactive information kiosks, where guests can obtain information about the Center and arrangements, effected here. The Center’s opening ceremony was held on May 10, 2012 on the occasion of the 89th anniversary of the birth of Heydar Aliyev. Acquaintance of the head of Turkmenistan with the Museum’s expositions was began from a presentation of the painting, glorifying the beauty of nature of Azerbaijan. Then, a collection of cars, being in official use of Heydar Aliyev was demonstrated to President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. During the Museum’s creation, special attention was paid to the reflection of the history of Azerbaijan and the life and work of the outstanding political leader of the friendly state. Photographic and video materials tell about the life of Heydar Aliyev. The Museum is distinguished by its form and originality of content. Here, there are materials about important events that took place in different historical periods in the life of neighboring country, in the sphere of culture, economy, sports. Many aspects of the prominent politician’s activities are represented in virtual form in the Museum’s sections “Life, depicted in photographs”, “Social-political life of Azerbaijan”, “Our statehood, heritage, achievements”. Audio information for each topic is given in the Azerbaijani and English languages. One of the sections is a multimedia room, reflecting Heydar Aliyev’s meetings with leaders of different states. The hall also exhibits military and civilian clothing of Aliyev, his desk, medals he was awarded in different years. Then, the President of Turkmenistan got acquainted with the unique exhibits, reflecting the country’s history and its cultural heritage. Specimens of rock carvings from Gobustan, found during archeological excavations, coins, jewelry, earthen- and brass-wares from the Middle Ages, ancient copies of the Koran, the Bible and the Torah, are of primary concern. Here, one can also see national costumes from different regions of Azerbaijan, musical instruments. Getting acquainted with the exposition of handmade carpets, the head of state noted the similarity in the carpet-weaving technique, patterns and ornaments, created by the Turkmen and Azerbaijani craftswomen. This indicates the commonality of moral values and spiritual objectives, cultures and traditions of two neighboring peoples, President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov said. Upon reviewing the complex, the leader of Turkmenistan wrote a memorable entry in the Distinguished Visitors’ Book. Then, the leader of nation headed for the International Airport of Baku, and left for Ashgabat.
