Turkmenistan is preparing for the meeting of the Council of Elders of the country, which will be held on October 9 this year in Ak Bugday district of the Akhal velayat. The Chairwoman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan A. Nurberdiyeva reported about the progress of this work at the meeting of the government. As the speaker of the Turkmen parliament noted, the program of the meeting and draft documents are being developed, proposals on the agenda coming from public organizations, institutions, local authorities and individual citizens are being studied. President Gurbanguly Berdymuhamedov noted the need to analyze the implementation of programs for socio-economic development of the country’s regions, especially in terms of improving the social and living conditions of rural population, taking into account the opinion of the honorable elders of the people. ""Paying tribute to their unquestionable authority, we will continue to involve yashuli (elders) in solving urgent issues of the life of the country, as well as using their rich life experience in the interests of strengthening the unity and cohesion of the Turkmen people,"" the head of the state said.
