Ashgabat hosts the training for specialists of the Caspian States

The capital holds 5-day training course “Marine Spatial Planning” organized by International Ocean Institute (IOI) and the State Office of the Caspian Sea Affairs under the President of Turkmenistan. Specialists of the Caspian state, representatives of ministries and departments of our country working in natural protection sphere, fishery, tourism, transport, development of marine resources as well as structures involved in interdepartmental coordination in the Caspian Sea participated in the seminar. Interactive course “Marine Spatial Planning” under Educational programme for sustainable development and control of the Caspian Sea is based on the principles of ecosystem approach and includes practical sessions. Regional projects involves Azerbaijan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Russia and Turkmenistan The seminar is aimed at improvement of competency and practical skills in marine spatial planning related to understanding of the role of ecosystems. Special emphasis is laid on coordination issues of different departments during the work in coastal zones and offshore.
